Xeomin

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a brand name for a type of injectable medication called incobotulinumtoxinA. It is a neuromodulator, which means it works by blocking nerve impulses to certain muscles. It is primarily used to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face, as well as for treating certain muscle conditions such as cervical dystonia and blepharospasm. Xeomin is similar to other neuromodulator products like Botox and Dysport.

Static wrinkles are wrinkles or lines that are present on the skin even when the face is at rest. They are caused by a combination of factors such as sun exposure, genetics, and natural aging process. They are typically found on areas of the face that are used frequently for expressions, such as the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth. These wrinkles are also known as “etched-in wrinkles” or “permanent wrinkles” because they are not caused by muscle movement or expressions.

Dynamic wrinkles are wrinkles or lines that appear on the skin as a result of facial muscle movement. They are caused by the contraction of underlying muscles, and are typically found in areas of the face that are used frequently for expressions, such as the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth. These wrinkles are also known as “expression lines” or “animation lines” because they are caused by the movement of the muscles. Examples of dynamic wrinkles are frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.

Xeomin and Botox are both injectable neuromodulator medications that are used to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face, as well as for treating certain muscle conditions such as cervical dystonia and blepharospasm.

The main difference between the two is in their formulation. Xeomin is made from a highly purified form of botulinum toxin type A, it is considered “naked” as it doesn’t have any additional proteins. Botox, on the other hand, contains small amounts of additional proteins that are not found in Xeomin.

Another difference is the duration of the effect, Xeomin may have a slightly longer duration of action than Botox.

Both Xeomin and Botox have been found to be safe and effective treatments when administered by a trained healthcare professional.

It is important to note that the choice of treatment depends on the individual case and should be discussed with a healthcare professional.
