The laser selectively targets the pigments in colored and vascular lesions. The laser light energy is absorbed by the target and converted into heat energy destroying the targeted lesion or blood vessel without damaging surrounding tissues. When used for hair removal, the laser energy is carried by the hair shaft to deactivate the hair follicle.
